The Holy Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

The following are the regulations concerning the Lenten season:

1. The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted. (Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast.)
On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. (Those who have reached the age of 14 are obliged by the law of abstinence.)

2. The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence “substantially”, or as a whole, is a serious obligation.

3. The Fridays of the year, outside of Lent, are designated as days of penance, but each individual may substitute for the traditional abstinence from meat or some other practice of voluntary self-denial as penance.

4. The time for fulfilling the Paschal Precept (Easter Duty*) extends from the First Sunday of Lent, Feb.21,2010 to the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, May 30, 2010.

*Canon 920, §1. All the faithful, after they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least once a year.

CCD Registration

CCD Registration for Grades 1 though 8 for next year’s program will be held on:
March 14 & March 21 and April 11 & April 18
in the School building first floor office from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
Parish Dues book paid for 2010 must be presented for registration.
( Dues may be paid at the time of registration.)
A Baptismal certificate is required for First Grade registration and for all new registrants.
Registration & Book fee: $65.00. (Late registration fee : $95.00)

The Franciscan Mystery Players


The Franciscan Mystery Players will present: “Jesus the Healer”
March 19th -St. Vincent's Church at 8PM in the church.
“Jesus the Healer” is a multi-media presentation of the Passion and Death of Jesus and the healing events in his life. There are no speaking parts; through the use of
special lighting, inspirational music, and narrated meditations, the play enables people to reflect on their struggles.

St. Vincent's Church is located at 979 Avenue C , Bayonne, N.J.
