Make Ready the Way of the Lord!
Dear Friends,
In a conversation with my brother this past week, we talked about setting goals in life.
A “goal” is a target we shoot for. A purpose for the selection of activities. A marker by which we can see accomplishment. Goals help us in growth and achievement.
Ask any successful person, and I am sure she or he will tell you that they set “Life Goals.” Goals can be long term or short term. Goals can be major or minor. But Goals must be realistic!
Advent’s theme of quiet reflection affords us an excellent time to “take stock” of our spiritual life and to set some goals for growth. We need to ask our self: “How am I doing Spiritually?” “How can I grow in holiness?” We need not set burdensome and unrealistic goals.
Something small by which we move ahead. Maybe a commitment to 15 minutes of quiet prayer. One decade of the Rosary. One ornament from the “Giving Tree’ by which we make an anonymous gift to a poor or elderly person. One act of patience and kindness.
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
